Pointz Game Mode - Recommended Mode For Beginners

What Is Pointz?
By now, we assume the reader knows all about Rampz, the original bag launch game. If not, just imagine Cornhole and Skeeball combined into a single amazing game where you slide mini bean bags down a runway and off of a ramp towards your opponent's target.

Pointz is one of two targets/game modes that come with the Rampz Game Set. It is the recommended game mode for beginners, since you don't need to be as precise as you do for the Cupz game mode. The objective of Pointz is to land bean bags on the game target and be the first to score 21 points.

The founder's favorite part about Pointz is when one team is close to winning, and each shot is filled with pressure as you try to either clinch the victory or hold on for another round. If both teams are close to 21, don't forget that you have to win by 2 points, which makes for an even more intense ending! Another good thing about Pointz is how much easier it is to have successful shots, making it the preferred option for casual play. The only downside is that you don't get to stand next to your partner, which is one of our favorite things about the Cupz game mode.

How To Play Pointz
After you get Rampz set up with the Pointz targets inserted, you'll need to stand across from your teammate at opposite ramps (just like in cornhole/bags). If it's just 1v1, stand on the same side as your opponent each round. Determine whether you will do ‘Cancel’ scoring or ‘Cumulative’. For ‘Cancel’ scoring, you subtract the round total from each team and award the difference to the higher scoring team. ‘Cancel’ scoring is more competitive but extends game time. You get 3 points for getting it in the cup, 2 points for the smaller red shelves above and below the cup, and 1 point for the big blue shelf at the bottom of the target.

How To Win Pointz
Team 1 shoots all 4 of their bags and then team 2 shoots all 4 of their bags. Once all eight bags have been launched, the round is over and it is time to score points for that round. The team who scored in that round, if playing ‘Cancel’ scoring, or the team who scored the most points, if playing 'Cumulative' scoring, has won the round and will shoot first in the next round.  Scores for each team are accumulated per round until one team gets 21 or more points.

FAQS
1. Why is Pointz the recommended game mode for beginners?
Pointz is the recommended game mode for beginners because you don't need to be as precise as you do with the Cupz game mode. As long as you hit the target, you'll be scoring points throughout the entire game. On the other hand, in the Cupz game you have to be nearly perfect with your aim and speed, especially once you get towards the end of the game with just 1 cup remaining.

2. How can I speed up the game so that it doesn't take as long to finish?
To speed up the game, use 'Cumulative' scoring instead of the more competitive 'Cancel' scoring. You'll be done in no time!

3. How can I make the Pointz mode even easier?
The only way to make Pointz game mode easier is to move the ramps closer together. Adjust the distance between the ramps to be as close as needed for the people playing. The recommended distance between the front end of the two ramps is about 10 feet for recreational play, and 12 feet for competitive play. If you're simply struggling to get smooth consistent shots off the ramp, check out the tips on our How To Play page for help and just give yourself more time to get the hang of it!
